Former fellows and fellows met with the staff and had a come together as a first reunion on September 1st 2006. This reunion is intended to bring fellows in contact with former fellows, now settled intensivists, and to intensify social contacts between all those who worked and work as an intensivist in the Intensive Care department of the VU medical center of Amsterdam. Nicole Juffermans and Marina Honing were the great organizers of this happening and they had prepared a silent hunoristic slide presentation with characteristic events, one-liners and pictures. This meeting was organized in "Keizer Culinair" in Amsterdam.

In this large kitchen dinner was prepared
During this social event a common dinner was prepared under close supervision of Keizer Culinair staff and small groups were responsible for different parts and plates of the dinner. Bert Thijs gave a very interesting lecture on the history of the department of Intensive Care and he summarized all his efforts to turn different units into one department. Kees Polderman, who was the first fellow who finished his training in the VUmc IC department and was since then a staffmember, reported briefly on his experience as a fellow in the late nineties. He also explained why his name was written as KAAS POLDERMAN in one of his first publication. By coincidence this very first fellow comeback-day was also the first day for Kees Polderman to work in Utrecht as the new vice-chairman of the department of IC.

The afternoon and evening come together was a great social success and Nicole Juffermans and Marina Honing were thanked by the chairman of the Department, Armand Girbes, for their great initiative and efforts to make it an unforgettable fellow comeback-day.
